Didn’t see this when it first went up as I was out of town and away from the ‘net. But yep—I know this story well. It’s absolute truth. But, the other truth is that it’s not new at all—probably with the internet, it’s so easy for the stories to get around, that we hear more of them now. But I have memories of Ty getting off of the phone, five-seven years back, after talking to a much admired creator and telling me, in shock, “They were asking if I could possibly help them find work. No one will hire them. This is —— ——— for God’s Sake!! He helped make this industry what it is!” That happened more than once.
A couple years ago, for April Fool’s Day, Ty did a joke post on his blog, Ty Templeton’s ART LAND!! claiming that he’d been made an editor at DC Comics and he was bringing back all sorts of wacky characters. He figured that it was pretty obvious that it was a joke—but by the end of the day, he’d had emails from a handful of creators all desperate for work.
