Futurequake 21 cover by ~GibsonQuarter27

My buddy Gibson Quarter!! (and I might know the chick who coloured this…although I’m currently having angst and not willing to claim my work). This is the cover for FutureQuake #21, a British magazine. The cover is meant to come out at the same time as the Summer Olympics which are taking place in….yay, Britain. (Gibson and I also did the cover for FutureQuake #15, which ended up getting reprinted in an art book later that year.)

Yayyy! Ty likes to be all “aw shucks” about awards so I’ll have to mention this for him—he’s been nominated for “The 2012 Outstanding Webcomics Creator or Creative Team/Créteur ou Créateurs Exceptionnel de Bandes Dessineés Web 2012” for The Joe Shuster Awards.
Prior to this year, there was some restriction on the webcomics—I think they had to be continuing characters or something—so he didn’t qualify until this year. Bun Toons is his pride and joy—the one thing he does that’s really really him—so he’s secretly super-pleased to be nominated. Although he’ll never say it out loud…
(such a hard choice! A couple of my absolute favourite webcomics are on the list with him…it was such an incredible list of webcomics that qualified for the nomination list this year. So wonderful to see the wealth of webcomics and creators we have in Canada)

Still working out some of the details but…May 5, 2012, after Free Comic Book Day events at The Comic Book Lounge & Gallery, I will be hosting a free-wheeling discussion with a couple of other comics creators. Doors open at 7pm, Show starts at 8pm. Ends at 9pm—depending on the mood of the crowd! We’ll be taking questions from the audience, too. Trying to explain the subject of the first conversation, my wife announced, “Canada. Comics. Discuss.” We’ve expanded that since—it will be “As Canadian as possible, under the circumstances.”
After On the Couch, there will be an announcement of The Joe Shuster Award nominations! (This should be taking place after The Doug Wright Awards, so participants and audience members are welcome to wander over to The Lounge afterwards). Then—party!!
Currently, there are details available for those of you on Facebook; I’ll be posting something on my art blog soon.

Comic book letterer/colourist. Wife-like person of a comic book artist/writer with four wildly creative children. I suffer from serious Cultural AD/HD--my mind jumps all over the place paying attention to so many different things. I want to know about sf/fantasy, comic books, cool decorating, design work, Gary Oldman, movies, social and political issues and whether or not Sam and Dean will live happily ever after.
